Joshua C. from MARION, NC Reviewed on 10/26/2007...
Some of the guest appearances on this album include DJ Lethal from Limp Bizkit and Troy Van Leeuwen from A Perfect Circle, how's that for contrast? Josh Abraham produced the record and he is known for work with bands like Staind, Korn, Orgy, Limp Bizkit, Depeche Mode, Coal Chamber, and PW5K.

"With all the bands in this over-flooded metal music scene, it's hard to keep track of every one of them, and it's difficult to realize which are the ones who are going to excel the highest and climb further up. Like alot of 'nu-metal' bands today, Professional Murder Music have gained quick success in such a short time. This self titled record they released is a fine piece of work, sadly it's gotten little recognition, and it's too good to be overlooked. PMM may not fit into today's rapcore fiesta, but their industrial formula is original, and their songwriting abilities are overwhelming. "Fall Again" is an addictive single, which has had its experience in the movie Valentine. Other track such as "Does It Dream", "A Night Like This" (Cure cover) and "Slow" highlight PMM at their best, a band that may climb to succeed in the future. If you are a fan of Marilyn Manson (Mechanical Animals-Era), Stabbing Westward, Dope and Orgy, and tired of that continuous string of rap/metal out there, PMM is a breathe of fresh air.1.Slow-From the End Of Days soundtrack, hardhitting opening track
2.Fall Again-From the Valentine soundtrack, by far the best track
3.Of Unknown Origin-Very dark & moody song, with haunting chorus
4.Does It Dream-Very emotional & touching track, well written
5.Darker-Decent song, except for that squeeky intro/chorus rhythm
6.These Days-Sounds very much like the previous track, depressing
7.Sleep Deprivation-Hence the title, song for those with insomnia
8.A Night Like This-Cure cover, great song, play this over & over
9.Everything In The World-Cool sounding intro, another moody one
10.Dissolve-The most electronic of all tracks, a good one
11.Your World-Probably the angriest song on the CD, great intro
12.Painkiller Introduction-One hell of a hyper instrumental"
Don?t you love it when you find a great band, just by chance

"Well, the story goes something like this. I think COLD is simply one of the most amazing bands I've ever heard, and I'm a big fan. COLD was coming to town for a concert at a small little dive and due to circumstance, I wasn't going to be able to go. I was pretty ticked off, but that's just the way it is. At the last minute things sort of came together and I was able to go. Aside from a great show by COLD I was able to sit and talk to Scooter Ward and Terry of COLD for about 20 minutes after the show. All in all a great night. What does any of that have to do with PMM? Well, so far not too much. But another very cool thing happened that night. PMM was one of the opening acts for COLD. I was blown away. PMM was simply awesome. Great show, great presence, and THUNDERING drums in their live show. Justin Bennett is a great talent; hopefully he'll be getting his due soon. After PMM was done with their set and COLD was still setting up I met the guys in PMM (I told you, this is a SMALL venue). Every member of the band was extremely cool and they all played great. After seeing the show and speaking with the band I told `em that I would be picking up the CD as soon as it came out, and of course I did. I certainly wasn't disappointed. For me the highlights on this CD are definitely "Darker" which is a very heavy, thundering, fast paced and dark song with great the addition of cellos. Very eerie effect with the cellos and programming. The CD also has a cover of The Cure's "A Night Like This", and it's a great cover. You could hear the song, and not even realize that it's a cover since the music is so different and that's not a criticism. The music is pure PMM and fits the lyrics extremely well. They made it their own song. There isn't a bad song on the CD, and if there is any criticism to be made its that some of the songs sound a bit similar. That really isn't a bad thing though, since they all sound so great. The CD does come with a liner that includes lyrics which is very helpful since it's not really too easy to make out what Roman is saying most of the time. The bass and guitar are strong throughout the album and these guys do a great job of presenting this aggressively gloomy electronica industrial metal sound that I haven't really heard from anyone else. Groovy stuff. He brought a strong track record to this album, and it worked. The list of bands he has worked with before should you give you some vague idea what PMM sounds like, just blend all those together. All in all, it's a very good CD and well worth the money. I can't quite place my finger on whom to associate PMM with yet, sort of an Orgy just not so much a pop band, more metal and MUCH better than Orgy. Definitely try to hear some PMM, they're a great band and this is a great CD."
Decent debut, better than most new nu metal bands of recent

"This album has found it's way into my cd player quite a bit since it's release date back in late May. While it is leagues ahead of almost all new bands to make it big (Coal Chamber lite Drowning Pool, annoying Boy Hits Car, god awful Shuvel etc...) it still isn't the most innovative or most talented piece of music to come recently. The singer reminds me of the guy from Oleander, and the guitars are consistanly good. But the guitars also sound too much alike from song to song. A good debut to say the least, but I expect much more from this bands next release. They definatly have the potential to become the next great Industrial band.Best songs on the album are Darker, The cover Night Like This, and Does It Dream. Other bands like PPM are Videodrone, Orgy, and Gravity Kills."
Excellent debut cd from a band that puts on a great show!

"I think this is an awesome debut release. I didn't give it five stars because, as good as this band is, I know they will get even better and I'm sure I'll rate their next disc.
Most of the complaints in the other reviews is that all the tracks sound alike. I don't happen to agree.
The lyrics are incredible, and they have a fantastic sound. My favorite tracks are: Fall Again, (the Cure cover) A Night Like This, and Does it Dream.
Note: I enjoy listening to PMM so much, that I turned off the Ministry cd I was listening to so I could listen to the sound clips again!"
