CD Reviews

Another great Pizzicato Five release. :)

"What more can you expect from Japan's hottest combo? Pizzicato Five once more provides us with an eclectic blend in their single "Darlin' of Discothèque" that leaves the listener with an unquenchable thirst for more! The original "Darlin' of Discothèque" [Track 1] is 11 minutes long; a large portion of it is the introduction itself, with a string ensemble reminiscent of a persian melody, accompanied by a Sitar that gives the entire song the image of an arabic/indian crossover. "One Two Three Four Five Six Seven Eight Nine Ten Barbie Dolls" [Track 2] is a catchy but repeatative melody that proves Nomiya Maki can count to ten. =P "Tout, tout pour ma cherie" [Track 3] is a fast-paced, fun song that can best be described as hyperactive. "Jolly Bubbly Lovely" [Track 4] is pleasant and fun, reminding me at times of "Welcome to the Circus" from "Romantique '96." This single is concluded, quite nicely, by a radio edit [Track 5] of "Darlin' of Discothèque," trimmed in length from 11:26 to 4:43. Overall, I would say that "Darlin' of Discothèque" is well worth the cost, but some may find the length of Track 1 and the repeatative nature of Track 2 a little tedious. Still, any die-hard P5 fan will be delighted with this unique blend of accoustics from the New Sterophonic Sound Spectacular, Pizzicato Five! (How about a U.S. release, guys? ^_^)"
Quit quibbling.

"Potent, Chiriko, you are - you've mapped out this typically magnificent P5 release with alarming accuracy. Omnipotent? Nah. How can you quibble over an 11 minute track, friend? I want all my P5 tracks to be 11 minutes long - I don't want them ever to end. I want them to repeat endlessly into eternity, I can't get enough mindless (but thoughtful) repetition coz that's what pop's for, baby! And you want pop - you get Pizzicato 5."
