Piyali's music on 'Unborn Star' falls somewhere between the New Age, International and Popular Music categories. Its sound is unique with shades of Indian melodies in structured western compositions with touches of other ethnic sounds. Her singing style is her own very fresh and quite different from the usual popular voices. Both, her music and voice are products of early training in Hindusthani music superposed on a liking for a western musical style.
