"Pgh's Greatest Hits, Vol. I is an excellent compilation of 'remember when' music for those who grew up in Pittsburgh in the '50s. Listening to the magnificent selections, you readily recall time spent watching the submarine races in Schenley Oval or Highland Park. Listening to the music, you almost expect to hear the voices of Terry Lee, Jim Quinn, Porkey Chedwick, Jerry B or other night time AM radio icons. The selections, as a group, are arresting. While you may begin listening as background, increasingly you will find yourself delightfully distracted by the intrusive sound. While a given selection may trigger a particular dance in the corner of a darkened basement on a Friday night, the total sound will envelope you like a fog at the Silver Lake Drive In on a summer's night. As excellent doo wop or a reflection of a simplier time in a special place, Pgh's Greatest Hits, Vol. I is classic. The CD is deserving of a slot in the serious doo wop collector's rack."

"I bought this LP on vinyl in 1966 and was thrilled it was packed full of local hits from the dances and AM Oldie Shows. This is the real thing not just obscure, never heard of records that so many compilations are made up of. The cedar process was first used on this cd to clean up all the songs, they sound like the were recorded from the original tapes. Great garage music like the Arondies "69" and ballads like Jimmy and Waynes "Magic of Her Love" are just a few of my favorites. If you want an education of the Pittsburgh Sound, this can be your first primer!"

"Admitedly I hail from Philadelphia but was transplanted to Pittsburgh in the very early 60s. The music on the CD/Album brings back so many memories of time spent at Lebanon Lodge and Linden Grove, and listening to "The Submarine Races" up on Mt. Washington with it's magnificant view of the Burgh! If you are into Oldies, start your collection here and as you listen to the ballads visualize Hot Rods at Eat-n-Park, steamed up windows in cars at Grandview Observation Deck and maybe a late evening ride with your honey on the Duquesne Incline... The "Pittsburgh sound" will take you home!"
