Royce uses trio form effectivly as a backdrop to tear up well loved standards like Nardis, yesterdays, I Fall in Love Too Easily ect..From swinging solo's to tender ballads he covers it all while staying fresh and inventive throughout each solo. Every cut is a masterpiece.I love his tone and tasteful use of the solo to truly tell a story and take that solo elsewhere. One of the unsung hero's of Jazz guitar who continues to explore his craft album after album. His rhythm section frames Royce's playing perfectly,driving the music, being present without obtrusive. The other night I had some friends over and had this on as background music but everyone kept tuneing in to the music instead of the conversation. If your a fan of Jazz guitar and standards I highly recommend this album."
