Synopsis
Album Description 2009 two CD collection from the modern Prog Rock band. Last year, The Pineapple Thief released the critically acclaimed album, Tightly Unwound, their seventh overall. While the album was many people's introduction to the band, they have actually spent the past nine years quietly building up a dedicated fan base across the globe, selling over 25,000 records and nurturing their 'bittersweet' Progressive sound over six previous albums. 3000 Days collects highlights from these albums and provides an overview of the band's career before signing with K-Scope. CD ReviewsSongs in a minor key TheBeav | San Antonio Texas | 10/18/2009 (4 out of 5 stars) "Since I discovered The Pineapple Thief's "Tightly Unwound" earlier this year, I've been searching for more of their music. Apparantly because of contractual reasons, their earlier recordings are no longer avaliable. That's a real shame because "Tightly Unwound" is a superb piece of music. It has been in constant rotation in my CD player since I bought it several months ago. Recently I learned that the band would be releasing a compilation of their earlier cd's, and I was anxious to hear where they came from musically. The wait was well worth it. This 2 disc set is in the same vein as "Tightly Unwound" - finely crafted, melodic work that shifts effortlessly from quite introspection to powerful rock. I would recommending getting both releases and thoroughly digging into "3000 Days" before moving on to "Tightly Unwound". Hearing their music develope and mature chronoligically is a great way to discover their work. I've also read they are completing a new release for 2010. I'll be buying it the day it comes out. I've read reviews comparing The Pineapple Thief to Porcupine Tree and Pink Floyd, among others. PT and PF are two of my favorite bands, and TPT sits very comfortably beside them. If English rock that plays in a minor key is your cup of tea, then you owe it to yourself to check out both of these releases." Excellent Band - Outstanding Compilation!!! Vini G. Diliddo | Gloucester, MA USA | 12/12/2009 (5 out of 5 stars) "I've been listening to Pineapple Thief for a few year now and absolutely love these guys.
With elements of progressive rock combined with beautiful melodic twists and turns this band has quickly became one of my all time favorites. Most of the releases from this band are impossibly hard to find and long out of print, but I've managed to seek out and find every single release that they've put out, and I still can't get enough!!! This release is a carefully chosen, remixed and remastered compilation listing of some terrific work from the band. Just some of the re-worked material, such as '137', makes this compilation a 'must-have' for Pineapple Thief fans, as well as a great representation of the band through the years for new fans as well. Tightly Unwound might be thier most successful commerical release yet, and deservingly so, but my favorite has been 'What We Have Sown'. If you can find this, it is also 'strongly' recommended. Great Musicians, Great Compositions, Great Compilation!!!! KUDOs to a band that will certainly break some big-time international success in the upcoming years if they can manage to continue as they have been over the last few years. Now - If we can only get them to re-release the remainder of thier catelogue...... " |
