"This without a doubt is one of the BEST Southern rap albums to come out in a minute. I will admit, when Pimp C was locked up, I didn't feel that his music would be that great after he came out cuz I hadn't heard much from him. This album makes me take him more seriously. Alotta bangers on here too. Don't listen to anyone hatin on this album and go cop it now! UGK 4 LIFE!!

"like I said in the title of my review this album is a notch below sweet james jones stories. The reason was that it is a notch below it is because a couple of the tracks like that one with ali & gipp were sorry. Too much of them and not enough Pimp C."

"Fresh out of jail after 4+ years and back in the studio, Pimp C delivers a solid 2nd album, worth 4.5 stars. As one half of one of the best groups ever in rap (UGK), and being in the rap game for 14 years, one of the real, original rappers from the south, and one of the few with actual talent, Pimp C drops a solid 2nd solo album, just 16 months since his solo debut was released while he was in jail, this one is a little better. Just can't wait for a new UGK album to drop now. With 15 songs on here, 1 is a classic, 2 are almost classic material , 1 or 2 I skip, about 3 atre average and the rest are tight. As I said guests are heavy, on 14 of the 15 songs so you don't get as much of Pimp C as I'd hoped. Production is tight as well. Mr. Lee does 3 songs, Mike Dean, Clay D and Jazze Pha each do 2, and Mykel Diesel, Salih, Cory Mo, Mouse, Manny Fresh and Pimp C all do 1 song. A must have album from one of the Trillest!

"Pimp C is back and does his thing on this album. I listened to the whole cd from beginning to the end and pimp c murders the beats. The only thing i didn't like was that there are a lot of guest appearances and pimp is sometimes overshadowed, but overall this is a great cd."
Pimp C-Pimpalation!!! A Coming Out Party

"Pimp C returns with his second solo album in two years but this time he's out of jail and ready to ride. Pimp C - Pimpalation is a coming out party and everyone is invited: Lil Keke, Mike Jones, Bun B, Slim Thug, Trae, Chamillionaire, Zro, Lil Webbie and Boosie ( who he discovered), Big Mike, Scarface, Willie D (who isn't listed on the back), Mannie Fresh, Tela, 8Ball & MJG, Jagged Edge, Big Gipp, Jody Breeze ( when is his solo gonna drop!?!?!?), Jazze Pha, and Cory Mo as well as others. The only notable omissions are T.I., Too Short, and Paul Wall but that can be forgiven. Given the talent of that roster it's easy to see that this album is hotness. Even though Pimp C has many guest appearances, he steals the show with his charisma, mic presence, and pimp tight lyrics. Pimp C continues to spit that game and manages to keep a cohesive feel throughout the album; he shows why he is one of the south's most revered mcs.
The usual themes are here; cars, women, money but he does it way better than many of the people out right now trying. The production is smooth and pimpalicious handled by Jazze Pha, Mannie Fresh, Cory Mo, Mr. Lee and others.
The choruses to some of the songs are instantly familiar as he uses some classic lines on songs Pourin Up (smokin out pourin up keep that lean off in my cup, all my cars got leather and wood in my hood we call it buck), Git Ya Mind Right (git ya mind right hater you a simp and I'm a red hot undercover pimp), Overstand Me (everybody rappin like they ballin in the mix, I see em in the streets I ain't believing that shhh, your diamonds aint shining and ya rolex ain't real, while I'm grippin on the grain sippin lean and poppin pills) and Working the Wheel (I'm trill working the wheel you can get a bizzerp I'm chokin on that dosier sweet and sippin on some sizzerp). He comes back strong with Havin Thangs 06 (fly hoes and chains and swanging thangs...just another young player havin thangs mayne) which is an instant classic.
The best songs other than those mentioned would be The Honey w/ Jody Breeze & Tela, Knockin Doors Down ( where he urges rappers to drop the beef and get the money), On Your Mind with Jagged Edge and Gipp, Cheat On Yo Man w/ Mannie Fresh, and I Miss U w/ ZRO.
This album is undoubtedly one of the best releases of the year along with T.I.'s King, Da Backwudz - Wood Work and a few others. Pimpalation is an instant classic...down south music at it's finest. 5 stars...a must have. * side note...the album came out in stores like two weeks before they let you review on this site which was wack but no harm done*
