Standard pillows, but hey it works

"Like most fans out there, my obsession began after watching FLCL. The pillows, with their insanely catchy hooks juxtaposed with surprisingly bleak lyrics, carried the entire show and elevated it beyond, well beyond any other normal anime. It was the first time I paid so much attention to any anime OST.
In Wake up, the pillows stick with the same tried and tested formula. It's in the same vein as "My Foot"- catchy riffs, heartfelt yelping on Sawao's part, some decidedly more exploratory guitar work (see 'century creepers', the heaviest song on the album) and one of my favourite solo's to date (see "scarecrow" their first single). Fans will be happy because hey, it's all classic pillows fare. No straying out of comfort zones like they did with Living Field (which I still think is highly underrated). However, I did get a bit weary as the album progressed. While it began on a strong note, it got slightly tiresome towards the end where i was unable to differentiate the songs from one another. Thankfully, the last song, "Sweet Baggy Days", reaffirmed the quality of the album.
Buy this album. It makes me happy everytime I listen to it. (=
