"here is indeed a heavy metal classic that apparently looks like its heading for obscurity and being lost forever.
if you DO find a copy, dont hesitate for a second!!
imagine a group of Spinal Tap fans banding together to record a "mock" speed metal album.all musicians are anonymous except for the vocalist,"the piledriver".
the lyrics are hilarious, poking fun of all the "heavy metal" conventions such as Satan, drugs,"being" metal,aliens,etc..
the music is catchy and fairly heavy, ironically much better than most of the bands that they are poking fun at!!!ESSENTIAL"
"Can hardly believe this album comes out on CD ! Bought the vinyl version back in the 80's and I must have played it like a zillion times or so. If this isn't a must-have album then nothing is. Simply the best metal album of all time. Sheer power combined with wacko guitar-sound, unbelievable lyrics (to be taken with a sense of humor) and drums that will haunt your brains for ages... Buy this album and you'll be humming the riffs for the rest of your life. Piledriver have simply made the perfect album.
If you don't like this, never listen to metal again ...
I rest my case..."
Whatever it takes, you need to find and buy this CD!

"The Metal Inquisition is the perfect album. Extremely catchy heavy songs with humorous campy lyrics. This was from way back when the extreme metal scene was just starting out. Back when all the bands had a different sound doing their own thing before the genre(s) started boiling down to formulas.
This one is one of the funniest and is very hard to describe since they are very unique.
The next album on this CD Stay Ugly really isn't all that great. The songs are not as catchy or musically as complex. The humor also does not work like the humor on Metal Inquisition.
You need to get this for Metal Inquisition. You will probably listen to the Stay Ugly half every now and then but the Metal Inquisition is a true classic that you will listen to over and over.
The best song is an extreme metal anthem, "Metal Inquisition".
The 2nd best song is "Witch Hunt". Other stand out tracks are "Sodomize the Dead", "Sex with Satan" and "Alien Rape" with the unique campy humor that Piledriver was known for. Then again, the 2 remaining M.I. tracks "Piledriver" and "Human Sacrifice" need to be included in that stand out track category as well. The whole M.I. album is stand out material.
Again, Stay Ugly was extremely disappointing. The songs are average, certainly listenable but nothing that will get you excited. The humor on songs such as "Flowers of Evil" fail to have the campy qualities of the M.I. songs and just start to seem stupid.
Don't let my review of Stay Ugly discourage you. You need this CD. Whatever it takes, find it and buy it. Get a second mortgage on your soul if that's what it takes. Just get this fabulous underground classic!"

"Simply put, this album has power, energy and a total pulse pounding sensation written all over it. The best thing about this CD, is that you get to re-live both albums (yes it was the vinyl days..) for one low price. Piledriver lived in obscurity, mainly because he was from Canada and also was on an indie label. Thank all responsible parties for this re-release. Now I no longer have to dig out the vinyl and/or listen to a crappy copy on tape. Any true metal 80's fan that somehow missed out on the Piledriver era, MUST have this recording!!! Remember....If you're in a Disco or in a Country Bar, Get the Hell out, we know where you are!! (lyric to Metal Inquisition) Peace! and ENJOY!!! Take the chance, it's worth it. I'm 36 and still loving it!!!"
It rocks but don't take it seriously

"I must have bought this album about six or seven years ago. If I remember correctly the tape I bought cost a dollar or two. The tape I have only has the first seven tracks on it. Every song is hard and the songs have a kind camp quality that some horror movies have. All the songs rock and the album all and all is fun to listen to. I recommend it for fans of 80's heavy metal."
