"Pigeon John is a trip, indeed. His lyrics are humoreous;however, meaningful. I don't have any LA Symphony joints...however...I heard PJ on DJ Maj's Full Plates and had to give him a try. About a year ago, I rid of the 250+ cds I owned of the Jay Z's, Biggies, Nas, etc. This is a fresh outlook on true Hiphop. One Way--One God--One Love"

"I picked up Pigeon John on a whim after reading a review for 'Pigeon John Sings the Blues' in Rolling Stone. Once I gave it a full listen, I was hooked on his genius. Creative, eloquent and versatile, Pigeon John is maybe the most gifted member of the LA Symphony crew. If anything he is a great artist with more potential than even he may comprehend.
Beats:
This album is a re-release of his first, with added cuts. Having all of his albums, I can say this is his best because it showcases great beats with great rhymes. 'The Cowboy Song' is my favorite because it is funny and cool at the same time. Makes you just wanna put the top down and bump it as loud as you can. "Cheerleaders" and "6th and Alvarado" pump like fists at a Black Panther rally, but you may be laughing at the hooks a little too much to notice. Still, you can just let this ride till the end, no skips.
Rhymes:
Pigeon John is basically nice on the mic because he is so balanced and clear. You understand every word because of his flawless handling of the English language. Even he says that he "sounds white". Who cares? I know I never did. Pay close attention to the somber 'Cry' and you may find yourself weeping. 'Rap Contest' is a testament to Pigeon John's perseverance in the rap industry.
Lasting appeal:
Like the description says, this is a must have for hip-hop heads. No cussing involved and a reverance for the Lord above, John is lyrically on his grind with this album. Give this a listen just for the refreshing newness in his sound and the humility that travels with the package.

"Fun, deep, truly unique... that's Clueless. I've gotten so many people into hip hop using this CD alone... it's that good. PJ's wit shines through as the glue that holds his style and beats together. It's an amazing combination. One of my all-time favorite songs- The Cowboy Song ( I still giddy-up to it in my car!). And Cheerleaders is simply... perfect. This is real hip hop ya'll. This is the reason I still have hope for the business... nuff said."

"Pigeon John is one underground mc you can count on to deliver. And deliver consistenly. However it is really a shame that he gets labeled a "christian rapper", he is not about labels at all, and he like quite a few other mc's have religous beliefs. This does not make there music "christian". If somebodys mom went out and bought there son Nas's Illmatic(nas has a deep belief in god) thinking they were getting a "christian rap" cd. they'd be sadly mistaken. And the same holds true for pigeon john. If you need proof of this, listen to any other joint off the basement records label. Having said all this, this is a top notch album with amazing beats and intense lyrics. A good buy. make sure to get "pigeon john is dating your sister" as that is also very good.
peace"
