Synopsis

Album Description
Pickin on Nickel Creek is a natural. In the short span of three albums, the band has established itself as one of the few bluegrass acts that can break through to a pop audience. And that is accomplished through great songwriting and musicianship. So dont think that our team of Nashville musicians havent uncovered additional wealth in the grooves of the Nickel Creek catalog. Just listen to Jealous of the Moon, The Lighthouses Tale, and House Carpenter for evidence of new thrills. Pickin on Nickel Creek adds a healthy dose of bluegrass fever to an already exceptional set of songs.

CD Reviews

Pickin on Nickel Creek: a Bluegrass Tribute
M. Cole | San Antonio, Tx | 01/15/2007
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Very good CD. Outstanding musicianship. Updated bluegrass. Different from their other albums, as Chris Thile is not the mandolin player. I purchased this and another album from Nickel Creek to listen to Chris Thile. This one is a surprise favorite of mine now. Also different from previous albums is that this one is all instrumental."
Clearing up some confusion

"This is not an album of songs performed by Nickel Creek, it is a tribute album. The "Pickin' On..." albums are a series of various bluegrass artists playing other bands' material. Most of the songs are instrumental, but in general the whole series is pretty good. I just noticed the other reviewers expecting the album to be a Nickel Creek album, read the description, and realized there should be a more definite answer on who did this album. There are a ton of albums in the Pickin' On series, but they are all done in a more traditional bluegrass style, so if that doesn't raise the bubbles in your beer then you will be better off getting the original artists' work."
