"I had never heard of Andreas Haefliger before I bought this CD, but he is an excellent pianist. He is a classicist and does not take many liberties (wise when playing Mozart), but his playing shows much emotion. ALthough I feel his tempos are sometimes too fast, this small inadequacy does not detract from the overall performance. Personally, I like that he takes the repeat on the expositional section of each sonata but not on the developmental one. The three sonatas collected here are among my favorites. The F-major sonata is very personal, while the Bb-major one is virtuosic and resourceful. Finally, the emotional c-minor sonata (preceded by the c-minor prelude), shows a side of Mozart that we are not especially familiar with, one which appears to lead directy into Beethoven's piano compositions. This is an excellent CD, both for those who have never heard Mozart's sonatas and those are familiar and who would like to hear a fine rendition of them."
