Beautiful...

"Any lover of piano music who isn't acquainted with Faure's will find this disc enchanting. His very unique, personal and subtle harmonic language gives the listener a lifetime of pleasure, with almost each of the mature pieces bearing an idiosyncratic harmonic or tonal feature of its own. This disc is only an introduction to Faure's piano world - a selection of works from the composer's first period of composition, works which are relatively easy to grasp in a first listening, and ones which are always full of beautiful melody. The attracted listener will do well to get to know the rest of Faure's piano works (covering a scope of about 4 CDs, comprised mainly of miniatures - there aren't many performances, sadly), including the maturer works, which are sometimes harder to grasp but unquestionably true masterpieces of immense depth. Pascal Roge is, to my judgement, one of the best interpreters of French music, and his playing is excellent."
