Romantic Scriabin at his best

"Gordon Fergus-Thompson has a rewarding overview of this music. When he plays Debussy - he cannot seem to get anything right - his tempos seem erratic and misjudged but with Scriabin, he is in his proper element. His overview that Scriabin was a latter-day romantic gives this music a cohesive unity. He plays these mazurkas like they are an outgrowth of Chopin. They are not played cool and detached but become fiery red-blooded works under his hands. The warm acoustics just add to the overall aural delight. This is the best one available now and probably for quite awhile as this will remain a cornerstone of these works. Bravo!!!"
