Simply stunning

"Louis Lortie's collection of piano music of Ravel is my favorite. His performance of Miroirs, which appears on this volume of the collection, is masterful. His technique is completely capable of handling all the difficulties and his playing is powerfully evocative. His "Alborado" is my standard for comparing all other performances. The piano sound quality on this disc is exemplary. His Gaspard is among my favorite performances, and the other pieces are all beautifully played. Although there are individual performances of some of these works that I might prefer to Lortie's, his collection as a whole is deeply satisfying, and this disc, the second volume, is the one to have if you're only going to have one of the discs from his collection."
