"Alexis Weissenberg, although not as famous as he deserved to be, was one of the greatest pianists of the 20th century -- equal or superior in both technique and artistry to all of the more famous "celebrity" pianists. His performances on this CD of Beethoven`s first two piano concertos are outstanding. The accompaniment by Herbert von Karajan and the great Berlin Philharmonic is superb, as one would expect. If you love piano music but are not yet familiar with these two early Beethoven concertos, which Weisenberg's performances reveal to be masterpieces, please acquire this CD while it is still available."
