Another great performance

"Like his work in Concertos 20 and 21, Buchbinder leads a dramatic performance from the keyboard using the timpani as a guide through this exciting music. Having heard Brendel's and Richter's Concerti 22, I would say this issue is superior to both. The sound is clear and incredibly vivid and the playing is wonderful. The Vienna Symphony isn't the Vienna Philharmonic, but they do a credible job supporting the soloist, who leads the orchestra from the keyboard. No one will call Buchbinder a wallflower or shrinking violet. He is dynamic, dramatic, out front and in some ways in your face. If reticent poetry is your preferred vehicle, stay away from this. But if you like Mozart with strength, resolve and poetry, these readings should help you hear something most pianists miss."
