CD ReviewsSmoothjazz.com Review Sandy Shore | Monterey, CA | 09/02/2004 (5 out of 5 stars) "We knew this young man was destined for big things... And look at him now, the saxophonist's second album has been released by Carzino Entertainment Alliance, an exciting, new independent label specializing in Smooth Jazz. FOURPOINT O, a reference to the artist's desired outcome as a dental student in Florida. Can you imagine being a patient of this funky doctor? "Yes, I need a cleaning and a solo please, Dr. Martin." Barely in his twenties, Phillip plays like that of someone much older with a tone that is sweet and pure and totally tapped in. His take on "Feel Like Making Love" is as good as Smooth Jazz gets. Hip and tender with a little bit of an attitude. Phillip crosses lines between feel good jazz and heady jazz with great aptitude. His new radio hit, "Look To The Sky" mixes an urban groove with Jay Beckenstein (Spyro Gyra) and David Sanborn stylings. The tender version of Wayne Wonder's, "No Letting Go" is off the heezy. Play this tune on your next romantic weekend! A few songs made it over from Phillip's indie release, "Saxappeal," including "The Way," "Cindadelic Journey," and one of our favorites, "Good Day At Work." The young Mr. Martin is serious about his music and his focus is clear on this brand new release. On a scale of 1-4, FOURPOINT O gets a 4! Pick up a copy of this sophisticated, new CD and support the future Dr. Phillip Martin, DDS. -Sandy Shore"
