"This splendid recording is among Solti's last, showing him still at the height of his powers as among the 20th Century's finest conductors. His interpretation of Stravinsky's Petrushka is riveting, sweeping and exciting, replete with the warm vibrant sound of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra's strings, winds, and especially, brass. It is coupled with their recording of the lesser known ballet Jeu de cartes, which is also just as intriguing to hear. The sound quality is superb, equal to many I have heard recorded from the early 1990's from other major labels such as EMI, Phillips and Deutsche Grammophon. Fans of Sir Georg Solti and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra will not be disappointed with this fine CD."
