If you're a fan of contemporary Christian rock, Petra is one of the founding bands of the genre. Worth a listen.....they can still rock!

CD Reviews

A compilation that misses the good songs...?

"I read one of the reviews already posted suggesting that if you're looking at this album you would be better served to buy the originals. That reviewer is 100% correct. Beyond Belief, Unseen Power, and Wake-Up Call are my three favorite Petra albums and this CD looks to be poorly cobbled together from them. Don't get me wrong, there are still some great songs on here, but if you buy this CD you'll be missing out on the truly great songs those albums had. Don't settle for left-overs. Get the original albums."
Excellent Compilation For Folks Like Myself

"I already own three Petra albums, those being the "No Doubt" album and two compilation titles ("Radiophonics" and "Petra Means Rock") other than this one. I really enjoy most of what Petra has put out over the years, but I prefer buying compilations of this group since they never got much airplay (especially their harder rock songs) in my area and I hate to plunk down my cash on something that I may not like. I'd much rather get a sampling of a few albums all at once instead of purchasing three or four albums and only enjoying a few songs on each.

This particular album has a number of solid rock tracks on it, including my personal favorites, "Sleeping Giant" and "This Means War." It also includes a couple of songs from the "No Doubt" album that I already own.

If you're like me and don't get to hear many Christian rock bands on your local radio, pick up compilations like this one to give you an idea of what you're listening too. Petra's sound has changed quite a bit over the years. I personally enjoy the band fronted by John Schlitt, but the Greg Volz fronted "The Coloring Song" is my all-time favorite Petra tune."
