CD ReviewsThe Great Peter Ivers David Fisher | New York, New York United States | 08/08/2003 (5 out of 5 stars) "Peter was a great force in blues, r & b, rock and new wave of the late 1960's, 70's and early 80's. He learned to play harmonica from the master: Little Walter. He could have jsut been a great soulful harmonica player and part of a blues band, but he didn't stop at that. He began to compose melodies. And then he began to write lyrics. He found great vocalists to sing his songs such as Diana Ross and Dee Dee Bridgewater. Eventually he began to sing himself. This disc is kind of a "best of", but unfortunately does not include anything from his first Album "knight of the blue communion" which contained Lyrics by Tim Mayer and the voice of Yolande Bavan. I disagree with Mark, the other reviewer about "Alpha Centuri"; that song is one of his best and fortunately it includes fantastic bass of his dear friend Buell Neidlinger. Thank you Peter, we miss you."
