I sucked. It's true, sadly, Brethren-- I did not have the Persuader cd, and by not having it, was reduced to a state of suckfulness. Now thanks to the Abrasive gods, I HAVE this aforementioned disc and I SUCK NO MORE. It's painfully simple-- if you don't have this cd, YOU SUCK. Have it=Don't Suck.

I have a short list-- my Abrasive top 10-- and so far it was occupied in only two spots-- #1 and #2, and only by Havochate and Hammers of Misfortune. Add this to the list, and tied for #1, this is the tightest, most s#*t-together metal I've heard this year. This is a disc that has all the elements of what is PYOOR and TROO about metal. Three tracks into "Evolution Purgatory" and I was nearly gushing-- something we know all barbarians are genetically incapable of. Persuader is the perfect marriage of power/prog and old school thrash. Driving, hooky guitar licks, committed thrash breaks and steroided-up, hyper aggressive vocals. Working again from a promo disc, I don't have a band roster to praise these lads individually, but collectively these youngsters can make music to sack an empire by.

Persuader attacks with all the fury of their current peers, namely Destruction and The Haunted. The guitar work has the jackbooted precision of mid-career Slayer. There is a balance struck between the need for pure shredding and heroic, cascading, tumbling solo breaks. The most outstanding part of this disc, however, lies with the vocals (gasp!). Yea, I did say vocals. I make sport of many a power/prog vocalist more often than not, and always for lack of originality, but I can't find a single thing to fault here, either stylistically or in arrangement. The tracks are arranged in traditional power form, including breaks to chaingang choruses, but the harmonies are well-understated. Persuader's lead voxman seethes with an urgency and maniacism befitting Blackie Lawless on a good day. His parts are punctuated with a spitting scream that drips an uncommon amount of venom and menace-- perfect.

With the firepower of the almighty Sanctuary Records behind them, Persuader deserves to go far, for as long as they continue to churn out the PYOOR and TROO metal. And it don't get much more PYOOR than this, brethren. GET THIS DISC. DON'T SUCK. A rare find-- a perfect album. Ogg the Brabarian gives "Evolution Purgatory" five bronze shields out of five

Imagine for a moment...

"Imagine a mix of early In Flames and Blind Guardian and you will have a pretty good idea how Persuader sounds. There are frequent choral vocal blasts and speedy guitar licks reminiscent of Blind Guardian, but there is also a definite In Flames sound that is part of the proceedings, as well. There are plenty of catchy riffs, the stellar production value shines with particular notice going to the warping or extending of vocalizations. However, there are times when the two influences are slightly at odds with one another, each threatening to overwhelm the other and make this CD yet another In Flames or Blind Guardian album. However, if you like either of those bands, then "Evolution Purgatory" should be in your collection. It is sometimes an odd mixture, but more often than not it is a rewarding experience. The drumming is also noteworthy and oftentimes inspired. Recommended."

"This band is great, for most of the time i thought i was listening to a new blind guardian album, but as i listened more there somewhat diferent musically, the vocals are exact, he sounds just liek Hansi, but it aint a bad thign knowing someone else has a voice liek that , its cool, the music is awsome, though good speed/power metal , check them out, if you like blind guardian, lost horizon,dragonforce,sonata.......... There next album will be even better i bet, watch this band rise in the next year or two"
