CD Reviews

Another superb live show from Pendragon!
Jeffery K. Matheus | Indianapolis, IN United States | 10/25/2000
(5 out of 5 stars)

""Live in Krakow" in Pendragon's 4th official live album, and rates alongside it's imediate live predecessor ("Utrecht, The Final Frontier") as the bands finest live work. Like "Utrecht" the sound quality and production here is absolutely excellent (which was not the case with Pendragon's 1985 live release "9:15 Live"), and the performances are always full of energy and passion. This show was recorded during 1996's "Masquerade Overture" tour, and relies heavily on material from that album, as well as some earlier tunes thrown in for good messure. The highly emotional performances of "Guardian Of My Soul", "The Shadow", and "Paintbox" should not be missed by any progressive rock lover! Nick Barrett (lead vocals & guitar), Clive Nolan (keyboards), Peter Gee (bass), and Fudge Smith (drums) always function together brilliantly as a musical unit. These musicians obviously know something about dynamics and musical arrangements. They know when to kick it loose, and when to hold back for dramatic effect...and thats just one of the things that makes Pendragon the most exciting band on the current progressive rock scene!"
