Top Ten 90s Album

"Pell Mell are one of the great instrumental groups...maybe ever. They craft exquisitely beautiful, at times tears-inducing, melodic/rhythmic instrumental pieces unlike anything else I've heard. Let me qualify that. Yes, you might hear similarities to others, but only in the most superficial ways--ie, they too use keys, guitar, bass and drums. What sets Pell Mell apart is that each individual has an incredibly strong instrumental "voice" that comes through on every recording. This is not a "jam band", but 4 like minds who somehow cohere around these fragile, spare, then driving and powerful, mini-masterpieces. And speaking of masterpieces, this is it: Interstate, one of the most inspired, inspiring, driving pieces of instrumental rock music ever recorded. 9.75 out of 10."

"What is it about this CD? The first 7 cuts are absolutely riveting. You find yourself wondering, "How long can these guys keep this up?" While it flags a little toward the end (except for cut 10, which happens to be in 5/4 time (holy guacamole!)), this thing stands as a compelling statement of guitarology, a true-blue andidote to everything Britney.
Like a bolt/jolt of central-cortex crack, this CD never fails. Just try to throw it our your car window. Can't be done."
Great Thinking/Driving/Chilling Music

"Interstate is my all time favorite driving music CD (cleverly named, eh?). Although I am a fan of many of the guitar heroes (satriani, beck, etc) this album has no pyrotechnics at all, just solid, well played melodies and grooves. Sometimes some interesting "art of noise" stuff thrown in for good measure, but always in good measure.
Definitely recommended - unfortunately none of the other CDs in the Pell Mell catalog have the same feel as this CD. I bought "Star City" and "Flow""
