CD Reviews

A very pleasant sounding folk album - almost classic - 4.5 s

"Peggy Honeywell's "Faint Humms" is very very good, even if it lacks any "great" songs ("Kitty Paws" is pretty sweet, though). It's essentially a folk album, but her words are hard to make out. The entire album is her and her guitar (and a banjo sometimes), but you can't really hear what she's saying which is a little bit confusing. However, the instrumentation is wonderful and her voice is extremely likable - I think most people will dig it. It serves more as a mellow album rather than anything of poetic worth - it has nice heart and soul, too. It doesn't necessarily break any new ground, but it's just so pleasant that you can't help but love it. There's just something about it that gives it great appeal. Fans of folky or mellow music will no doubt love this album, and I think that most other music fans will like it too. Highly recommended!

Highlights include:

the entire album!"
Deep forest daydream perfection

"I honestly think this is one of the finest albums ever recorded. Really. No foolin'. I first heard it fireside in a Big Sur campground in the redwoods. I was stunned, slackjawed. I was knocked of my heels. It was all I could hope to hear at that moment and every moment since. Her perfect, slightly slurred delivery. The pure humbling humanity of the lyrics. (Absolute favorite line, "I don't remember anything, other than it was perfect.") I saw her perform the songs the next night at a Folkyeah! gig in Fernwood and thanked her on the steps outside after her set. Told her she was wonderful. She was gracious and kind. Buy this album. Put it on anytime you need the mud to settle, and settle it will."
