CD Reviews

I'm George Bush My Son Is A ......

"The first show of the intro leg for Pearl Jam was without a doubt one of the best shows of the summer. PJ doesn't seem to hold back considering the tragedy that occured at Rosklide. It almost seems as if this concert was a tribute to the concert goers who died. Do The Evolution includes a lyric change that will amuse all fans (I won't spoil the surprise). The set also opens with Long Road, a song that most Pearl Jam fans aren't familiar with but will soon enjoy once they are exposed to it. The best part of this concert is the long tag in Daughter when Ed sings It's Okay by Dead Moon. Favorites like Animal, Go, and Black are played. Definately a must for anyone looking to get the best bootlegs for the tour."
Pearl Jam's 3rd era: the return from the brink

"Pearl Jam's return after Eddie Vedder's divorce and the band's near breakup a month after their concert in Roskilde, Denmark where 9 fans died (some before the band even began playing) causing the band plead with the crowd to stop the crushing pressure half way through Daughter. The band returns to tour the United States after succumbing to accusations by the Danish authority in the dilemma of establishing responsibility.

This concert is incredible at times as Vedder works out the anguish of the disaster through songs like Long Road, Daughter. In songs like Off He Goes, and Small Town you can clearly hear their hope of establishing meaning as they turn a new page and difficult corner as a band.

These events would be the groundwork of their Riot Act record. The new direction in music replaced the dread experienced by the band in the crash of Kurt Cobain's suicide in an all-consuming environment of popularity."
Worth the price just for "Daughter"!

"At first I bought Virginia Beach just for Daughter/It's Ok because it is the most beautiful version of the song that I have ever heard. Heck, it is probably the second most beautiful thing I've ever heard Pearl Jam do besides "Untitled". So after I listened to "Daughter" multiples times, I listened to the entire 2 cds. "Long Road" is an awesome opener, "Small Town", "DTE", "Soon Forget", "Light Years", "Black", "MFC", heck the entire setlist is a highlight. This is the second best Pearl Jam Live Cd I've heard so far. I am a little biased though since I was at Houston-2. This was the opening date on PJ's North American tour and it is incredible. This reminds me why I fell in love with Pearl Jam's music back in 1991."
