Original deep beauty

"This was the first album of Paul Winter's that I purchased, and I still feel the sense of revelation it brought to me - as an amateur classical musician and professional music lover, I felt there must be modern idioms that convey the force and absolute beauty of life conveyed by the best of classical music. Almost throughout this album, the musical ideas are ORIGINAL from the heart and expressed and performed beautifully. The fact that this is a nature-centered album does not hurt at all, although I would say the expression ties most closely to the nature of humanity than to any one animal. In the sense that the deep appreciation of animals shown in this album corresponds to the same appreciation of one's own human nature, you could say there is no distinction between the two, and when carried into this tender yet strongly expressive world, it is not even necessary to think about such a distinction. Lastly, there is at times in the album a sense similar to listening to good JS Bach - the composer's intellectual enjoyment of experimenting with new sounds and ideas, while at the same time producing great music."
This music is a spiritual connection to our animal friends.

"Paul WInter has put together amazing music and sounds that awakens our heart connection with our wild brothers and sisters. This is music to center with and meditate by. Whenever I am feeling disrupted, this is the music I turn to. It's jazz, it's New Age, it's spiritual. It really defies description and categorization. It's soothing and lovely, it's exciting and energizing. It's a trip to the healing waters without leaving your chair.Listen. Hear. Open your heart to the wolves, the teachers."
A lovely album

"These are selections culled from Pauls other Living Music albums. If you love new-age type of music, this is for you. Not only does this album feature the voices of the Bottlenose Dolphin, the Canyon Wren, Loon and the majestic Wolf, but also some very unusual instruments like the Amazon rain-stick, bendir (a North African frame drum) and Pandereta. The 1st 5 selections were recorded in the Cathedral of St. John the Divine, New York, giving them an almost spiritual feel, with Pauls soprano sax adding beauty. Other pieces were recorded live in the General Assembly of the United Nations on World Environment Day in 1984. One song, is the wonderful traditional Guinean song 'Minuit', with English and Guinean lyrics. 'Song For the World' was recorded in Russia and features the Dimitri Pokrovsky Singers and traditional Kursk panpipes. This album is truly a listening experience. Highly recommended!"

"There are actually tracks on this cd I can't listen to at work (or in public), because I become so emotional (eyes well-up). Dolphin Morning, River Run, Grand Canyon Sunrise, and Wolf Eyes will leave a wistful lump in your throat. The entire cd is filled with spirit and beauty, and instruments you don't ordinarily hear. The Spanish Angel cd is also just a beautiful."
