CD ReviewsReal Surreal Soaring Heart | 04/14/2003 (5 out of 5 stars) "Paul Taylor has Talent. Real and True. There is a feeling of totality to his music. He conveys so many emotions, and they are all Good ones. He knows what he's doing. Paul's music utilizes teasing build ups and smooth flows back down to keep this listener hooked. My mind is soothed, my body sways and my heart soars. Ah! Paul has played with America's renowned number one female instrumentalist, Keiko Matsui and she accompanies him on the piano on tracks four and eight*. Paul Dominates on all tracks using alto and soprano saxophones. The accompaning musicians Derek Nakamoto, Basil Fung (perfect bass!), and of course, Keiko; are all Experts and make Paul shine. And shine he does, like the Hope Diamond! Bravo to all involved and excellent production by Robert L. Tauro. Derek Nakamoto plays keyboards and synthesizers, bass and does logic sequencing, drum programming and rhythm loops. 'On the Horn' is all instrumental except for track three, "I Want Your Love," of which Paul's smoldering lead is backed by himself and the gorgeous voice of Delona Simon. This track is awesome and essential. Funny, my only complaint with this cd is the title because the Music is so transcending that I would have chosen "Real Surreal" or "Exotica" as the title. In any case, I can't wait to hear 'Hypnotic.' A word of warning, just one of Paul's cds will probably not be enough. Soar to the beauty of life. Thank goodness for musicians like Paul!"
