Product DescriptionTwo rare Paul Evans albums (best known for the hit Seven Little Girls Sitting In The Back Seat, but an artist with far greater range than this hit might indicate) are compiled onto one CD, with a bonus track, Midnite Special. John Fogerty has said Paul's version inspired him to record Creedence's version. Folk Songs Of Many Lands' was released in 1961 as Carlton 12/130 and 21 Years in A Tennessee Jail (a selection of traditional prison songs or those written in the traditional style) came out in 1964 on Kapp 3346.The two albums are a perfect fit apart from the folk quality of the country music. They have many things in common: many of the same musicians and the same recording studio. On both the same recording technique was adopted with no formal arrangements. Instead a group of talented musicians listened to Paul's song presentations, played along allowing the arrangement to take shape. Only then was the 'record' button pushed.Detailed sleeve notes by Paul Evans really give an insight into the recordings.
