"Paul Badura Skoda (who celebrated his eighteenth anniversary at Oct 6 2007) shares with Sviatoslav Richter the honour of being one the most versatile pianists ever born. But the most pertinent is his absolute conviction and commitment around every composer.
And this affirmation I made not only because when he was in his 31 had recorded more than 250 albums, but besides, these recordings of both Chopin's piano concertos are hovered by that aristocratic refinement and gallant mode that one misses the most of the actual performances, where the poetry has been substituted by a sort of mannered affection, due possibly to the endemic superficiality that permeates the soul of many players and even conductors.
These recordings are the most forceful evidence about Chopin's poetry is an undeniable fact, far beyond of prejudiced considerations.
