Synopsis

Product Description
LOU CURTISS REMEMBERSI first heard Patty Hall sometime in the early 1970s and immediately booked her for a concert series I was doing at Folk Arts Rare Records, my store in San Diego. Her original songs were clear and well put-together (still are) and she also played traditional and old-timey music. One appearance led to another, and then I booked her for the 1974 and 1975 San Diego Folk Festivals. When Patty moved to Nashville to take an internship at the Country Music Foundation in late 1975, the West Coast lost one of its musical Movers and Shakers. After a 25-year hiatus, Patty moved back out our way with new songs, more musical experience, books written (and published), and lots of life lived. Shes back playing coffee houses and concerts and in 2004 and 2005, she appeared at the Adams Avenue Roots Festival, the successor to the San Diego Folk Festival. And now shes done this CD thats a mix of country, old-timey, and some original songsboth old and newwith a variety of musical accompaniment and an overall presentation thatll make you mighty glad you tuned in. Patty plays guitar or banjo on every track, and sometimes a little keyboard or percussion. She also sings some harmonies with herself and is joined by a variety of folks playing various kids of backup (you can see who they are in the song lineup). Thirty years ago when Patty left for Nashville, I figured Well, shell have a record out soon, and us West Coasters could all talk about how we knew her when. Now shes got this new CD out, and Im still proud to talk about how I knew her when...Recordially, Lou Curtiss
