CD Reviews

3 great bonus tracks
Joe L. Benson | Portland, Oregon USA | 07/30/2005
(5 out of 5 stars)

"I don't feel the need to review the CD since it has been reviewed before and if you are thinking of buying this import then you are allready a fan. The three live tracks are taken from a October 2003 concert at the Ryman. Her Live album at the Ryman according to that cd was recorded Jan 30 2003. So its all new stuff. The description on the disc and website are a bit misleading. Emmylou Harris only appears on Truth #2, not all the songs as the sticker implies. But the live tracks are still worth getting if you are a Patty fan. Just don't get them if you think Emmylou is on all the bonus songs."
I'm So Lucky To Have This One

(5 out of 5 stars)

"I work for a big book chain that also carries music, and the version of this album I own is the in-store-play version, which has six extra tracks, several of them live. I love all of Patty Griffin's albums because of her passion and her virtuosity, but most of all because of her storytelling skills. Listening to one of her albums is like sitting down in your favorite chair with a really good short story collection, one that you like to read over and over. Sometimes the simple ones like "Kite" and "Mother of God" are the ones that grab you the most, but then others like, "Long Ride Home" (from 1000 Kisses) and "Useless Desires" come back to haunt you. "Useless Desires" actually inspired me to write a novel (forthcoming, titled SPIRITS OF GLORY).

If you like folk, country, and ballad-style rock, give this album a try. It deserves 5 stars, and its spot in history."
