Synopsis

Album Description
Award-winning songwriter Patsy O?Brien has released a new album of self-penned material that reflects his penchant for seamless genre-hopping, as well as showing off his critically acclaimed songwriting skills. Patsy?s interests in contemporary songwriting as well as his Jazz and Traditional Irish influences make for a most astonishing and eclectic musical blend, and "WHAT YOU KNOW" his second solo Cd, is a 14 song testament to his abilities as songwriter, guitar player, singer and interpreter, the last being most evident in a blistering jazz/blues version of "Star of The County Down" with Irish music legend Paddy Keenan on low whistle, an arrangement of the old Irish ballad that inspired Irish music critic Paul Dromey to declare Patsy "Ireland?s best ? kept musical secret." The Stateside critics have been equally impressed : I'm glad I caught him. his fingers running over the neck of that acoustic like clockwork. Here, there, here, then here, now there, back here, all in a second. Pluckings and harmonizings and precise strumming backing up songs. One presented a philosophical argument between Mother Theresa and Indiana Jones. Somehow, he kept a lengthy and winding tale energized, but not overly so. My foot was tapping, but the song wasn't rushing by me like a train. (Chris Lough) "Falls in the void between Bob Dylan, Van Morrison, and Jethro Tull?s Ian Anderson?.stomping and ocean breezy ? sure footed and fragile." (Chris Arnott ? New Haven Advocate)
