Album DescriptionA Swan At Smiley's is the record of a hot, dizzy summer spent in a basement apartment in Denver. It is a bittersweet love note to Patrick Porter's old, lowdown, underdog hometown. The first and last songs are Dictaphone recordings made on the lounge piano at a local Ramada Inn, while the ones in between used swankier recording equipment. "Wait For Another" was the first of these--imagined as a punch-drunk hoedown dedicated to the feeling that life might get better someday. A lot of the songs are about the ups and downs of it all, and how the ups are worth the downs, most of the time. The album is dedicated to a girl named Annteta.
