"Pat Martino's album, Live! defined jazz-guitar playing for me. It was so good, it was scary! Since then I have always loved the man's playing.Pat has had ALOT of ups and downs in career, including major brain surgery which robbed him of his playing abilities. But character is also spelled M-A-R-T-I-N-O because the man came back and learned AGAIN how to play jazz-guitar.All Sides Now is an album of playing with other guitar players, all of whom, with maybe the exception of Les Paul, were inspired by this master. There is also a beautiful duet with Cassandra Wilson (read the liner notes to see how this came about).Although I've always had the feeling that Pat Martino never regained the level of playing that he exhibited before the brain surgery, his playing and his unique playing concept is still on a very high level.Twice in one lifetime."
