"The Parade's one legit claim to fame was a top 20 single peaking on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in May 1967, on the cusp of the Summer of Love. As the CD booklet's interviews with the band members make clear, they almost spun that success into a second hit single that would have established them, but a series of near misses prevented it from happening. A&M Records declined to release their album and the group's members went on to other things. Fortunately, this CD makes it possible to get a sense of their achievement. The outstanding cuts for me are "She's Got the Magic" and "I Can See Love," but "Sunshine Girl" and "Welcome, You're in Love" (whose lyric runs, "Welcome, you're in Love, population one") aren't far behind. Several others are outstanding as well. The most comparable groups to the Parade are the Left Banke, the Association, and the Turtles. If you like exquisite harmonies, polished productions, and sharp minor-key melodies done by energetic and talented young pop performers in their prime, this CD is for you."
