Synopsis

Album Description
The Slow Jets critically acclaimed first two albums Worm Into Phoenix and Good Morning Stars established the band as one of the preminent turn of the century art rock outfits. Skyscraper Magazine called the group's last effort "One of the Best Albums You Didn't Hear.," The Big Takeover raved that the Jets "possess the chops, the skills., the range and energy", Ghetto Blaster prounced the group easily "passes the test" of making "consistently intersting" records. Now, with the presentation of the bands original line-up and revamped sound the Slow Jets morphed into rocking alter ego the "Paper Jets", a re-fi, deconstructed version of the Slow Jets featuring legendary Oranges Band frontman Roman Kebler, bassist and songwriter Rick Ivy, and Slow Jets guitarist Greg Preston. Writing songs with chaotic clarity and unwieldy cohesion, the Paper Jets offer a series of powerful compositions that re-invent the concept of pop structure, wired with indelible melodies and eccentric lyrics, a Slow Jets signature. Adding to the depth of the record is its textured progression from the sub-rock simmerings of "Summer of The Shark" to the full out sonic assault of "Propellor Planes." As evidenced by past efforts of these talented musicians, We Tried... solidifies the Jets standing as one of the most accomplished craftsman of the lo-fi rock sound.
