"This is a collection of singles released over the last several years. It isn't a new album. Just thought I'd throw that out there since it doesn't seem to be mentioned elsewhere in this listing."
Wish he was my papa

"David Pajo, aka Papa M (don't ask I have no idea) makes music that is possibly the most relevant to our times in terms of musical progression. I feel that his pastoral, experimental, melodic soundscapes created both accousticly and electronicly are a logical conclusion of the adolescent years of rock and techno.Of course their are others who are doing it. But there is a fine line between being 'experimental' and just plain self indulgent. The much hyped Fourtet for example undeniably produces moments of sheer brillince, but also gets bogged down with artsy fartsy noises, that let's face it sound crap, in the attempt to be cutting edge.Pajo's music is showcased perfectly on this collection of single releases. His quietly sparkling guitar is the thread linking a set of generally downbeat but heart-wrenchingly pretty tracks, minimal accompaniment is offered and required. Banjos meet techno beats, and somehow all is well.Everything we have learned about music since the Beatles has been processed, internalised and then discarded. This is the quiet, confident sound of music that knows it's identity so well it can afford to be whatever it likes."
