"It was a surprise to hear this album, after the last album of Paolo Fresu's that I heard, i.e. his version of "Porgy and Bess", which was a stroll down "Miles" Lane. Instead of the quasi-fusion sounds of that album, Fresu, a very accomplished horn player from Italy, provides us with a very balanced, airy set, giving all of his mate a more-than-fair turn to display their talents in a post bop setting, with hints of Miles, Stanley Turrentine, and Mark Isham. The jazz is straightforward but well-executed and quite tasty - contempo jazz in the 21st Century - an enjoyable listen. My major gripe is that the descriptive material is all in Italian, except for the names of the songs. English is a pre-requisite, if Mr. Fresu desires the understanding of an international audience."
