Product DescriptionThe name De La Rosa represents the legendary musical style of conjunto that was established by the late Tony De La Rosa. His legacy continues to evolve and grow to new heights with the next generation of De La Rosas. Ricky De La Rosa, born in 1964 in Kingsville Texas, is the nephew of Tony and son of Alfredo De La Rosa. Ricky and his brother Rudy continue the proud tradition of conjunto performers. Music is in their blood, with the De La Rosa heritage on their fathers side and the Eloy Bernal heritage on their mothers side of the family. Ricky performed alongside his fathers conjunto for several years and actually formed his own over 20 years ago. Ricky and Rudy originally performed as Ricky De La Rosa Y Su Conjunto, but it was the public who affectionately referred to them as Los D Boyz. The name has now become official, and the D Boyz are in full swing in South Texas conjunto venues.
The group has recorded for such labels as Freddie, Canasta, and of course, Hacienda. This new CD, entitled Puro De La Rosa, is the second release for this group on the Hacienda label. Highlights include Amigos Nada Mas, Pobre Bohemio, a special De La Rosa Popurrí and many more. If that were not enough, they were joined by other conjunto greats Boni Mauricio and Linda Escobar on a song entitled Cual De Los Dos Amantes.
The world is ready for the next generation of De La Rosas. When Tony was too ill to travel, Ricky and the rest of the D Boyz were flown to Washington, D.C. to receive an award from first lady, Hilary Clinton on Tonys behalf. A symbolic torch was passed from one generation to the next on that historic day. Hacienda Records invites you to experience conjunto at its best with Los D Boyz and Puro De La Rosa.
