"This is music. Ozma is what you get when you put Weezer and the Anniversary with a little bit of Saves the Day-ish lyrics/vocals (what's interesting is all these bands have toured together...) and that is an absolute great combo. The lyrics are the kind of lyrics Rivers cranked with Pinkerton; autobiographical, smart, intelligent, and weirdly humorous. Musically, Ozma are pretty heavy-boy, do they have BASS. I swear, the hidden talent in the band is the bass player (which is also the singer I think). Without the high singer and keys, the music would fit perfectly with any pop punk band. This kind of dynamic is what gives Ozma depth: light, fun for the Weezer kids, and the kind of music for the punkier kids. Lyrically, although no genius, the singer writes some great songs. I don't think any man cannot identify with Natalie Portman, the way he yells towards the end there, it's like, the kind of pain you go through. Then there's Ozma's "In Dreams", which is "Battlescars". It's the heaviest and mellowest song on the album, opening with a dreamlike harp/cello thingy, and then goes all out rock. The song cools down about two minutes before it actually ends, where there is an acoustic strumming of the melody to Domino Effect. Shootingstars seems to be about lost love in war, Baseball is a five minute precursor to Battlescars-it opens with a hum, climaxes with a band, and settles down before the sytnh-charged Rocks. The synth player has AMAZING talent: sometimes she plays the melody, weaving in and out of the guitar melody. The bass player is a great musician too: again, he weaves his melodies in the songs, but other times he's an independent structure. Appletrees uses puns like crazy, opens with strong bass, and is a rollicking journey throughout. In Search of 1988 is a rockin, 'good ole days' type song, very good. Rock and Roll Part Three should be doing something. Sadly, Ozma's only mainstream exposure was a short tour w/Weezer, but hopefully that will change. This is fun, insightful, personal, light stuff: like someone said, this is what bands used to do. If you like happy synth stuff (Anniversary, Weezer, The Faint, Reggie, Get Up Kids) you should like Ozma. Recommended highly..."

Better Than Weezer's Green Album

"Ozma. You've probably heard the name followed by "weezer rip-off" but don't let these people fool you. I saw them with Weezer and the Get Up Kids and must admit that I was not impressed. After downloading "Natalie Portman", I was convinced that they were "pretty good." I took a chance, went out and bought Rock 'N' Roll Part 3, stuck it in my CD player, took a breath, hoped for the best, and pushed the play button. From the opening keyboard riff of "Domino Effect" I KNEW I was wrong about these guys. I listened as one great song followed another. I was particulary impressed with "Domino Effect", "Battlescars", and "The Last Dance". I recommened it to all my friends, and have several of them hooked too. Overall, this is a great buy, I personally think it's better than The Green Album by Weezer. Check this CD out, you won't be disappointed!!"

"This CD rocks from Begining to End. It opens with An awesome guitar driven domino Effect that not only has a catchy and cool guitar riff but awesome lyrics. You would think it is my favorite but Every song on this CD is just so excellent that it is hard to choose. Some bands have CD's with a few good songs and some filler. Every song on this CD was Excellent. The Riffs are catchy and purposefull and the lyrics are clever and heart felt. It is just too bad the band broke up because I Went and bought all of there CD's after listening to this one and they don't have a single song i don't love. I also usually listen to bands such as NIN, Tool, APC,and the such so Pop rock had never crossed my ears. I have heard OZMA compared to Weezer and the band does draw insperation from Weezer but has a driving sound of there own that weezer began with but seems to have lost. I can not reccomend any CD more Except maybe Double DOnkey Disk which Is more Original And less inspired by Weezers early stuff. I like this CD more but Double DOnkey Disk gives you more of a unique sound."
