Product Description James Lockhart began his professional conducting career as assistant to Nicolai Malko with the Yorkshire Symphony Orchestra, and later became assistant conductor of the BBC Scottish Orchestra. Following a period in continental opera houses--including the Bavarian State Opera as assistant to Ferenc Fricsay, and the University of Texas, where he was Director of the Opera Workshop--he was on the music staff of Glyndebourne Festival Opera and Sadler's Wells Opera. Maestro Lockhart has been a guest conductor in Hamburg, Stuttgart, Munich, Leipzig, and Italy, at the Teatro di San Carlo, the Florence Festival, and with RAI Rome. He has toured with the BBC Welsh Symphony throughout Canada, and conducted the English National Opera during their historic visit to the Metropolitan Opera in New York.
