"This is my favorite recording of the opera. I have three others, including the Berlioz version with Larmore and Upshaw, the italian version with Janet Baker and another with Rise Stevens. They are all fantastic recordings, but this one with Verrett and Moffo has to be the most correct I've ever come across. The singing is great and almost impossible to meet. You won't be disappointed with it!"

"This is the italian version of 1762 (originally written for
castrato now sung by mezzo-soprano) with added musical material
- mainly interludes and ballet - from the revised french version
(for tenor) of 1774. The blend of Shirley Verrett's clear and
high mezzo with Anna Moffo's rich and mellow soprano is a real
balm to the ears. Judith Raskin is a fine Amore and sings well.
Chorus and orchestra - of chamber music proportion - are excel-
lent and Renato Fasano paces the opera very well with a sure
grasp of the classical style. A very beautiful version of a
very beautiful opera.

Lost and found again

"I bought this version of the opera many years ago,in Amsterdam, and I loved it, and then, in 1996, I 'lost' the second cd (which I like most), with my other half; I felt a bit 'incomplete'. Some time ago I looked on the site of Amazon and I discovered that there was no other possibility than to order it in the USA, and then it had to be shipped: it could take upto 6 weeks. I abandoned the idea, it seemed too complicated and a bit of a risk. Recently I found the cd-case of the opera with the second cd missing...and I got back to Amazon.com and ordered it immediately. Surprise: it has been delivered one week later! Thank you Amazon and Amazon seller rukasepar!!!"
