A Heaping Taplespoon of Krautrock With Just a Dash of Vocals

"This Orange Cake Mix is fairly different from the campy lyric-driven love songs Jim Rao is known for. The same instrumentation, cheap Casios and antiquated drum machines, are present, but on this effort things are much more layered and the mix becomes dense. The short songs on Silver Lining Underwater tend to drone in a fine style, similar to Krautrock titles such as Zuckerzeit by Cluster and especially Musik Von Harmonia. This offering by Orange Cake Mix is surprisingly rich, especially considering the self-imposed limitations the crummy instruments present."
