It's Great, but it's not "Live"

"For those that hungered for the defunct acoustic group led by Ornette Coleman, Old and New Dreams reconstitutes Ornette's sidemen with Dewey Redman as a replacement for Coleman himself. The result is fantastic, owing to the added maturity of the players and the excellent recording quality of ECM. This was the first of the group's three recordings (more have surfaced since Cherry's death in 1995). A damn solid record, this one was recorded in a studio, not "live," as the Amazon title would suggest. Another recording, "Playing," was recorded live, and it is excellent. Buy them all."
