Synopsis

Album Description
APPLESEED CAST frontman, Chris Crisci, departs from space rock and moody atmospherics for a multi-instrumental fuzz-folk masterpiece featuring the talents of Jordan Geiger (MINUS STORY) and Nathan Richardson (THE CASKET LOTTERY). Layers of home-recorded toy pianos, glockenspiels, children?s xylophones, trumpets, and cellos combine with the traditional folk-rock instrumentation of acoustic guitars, banjos, and harmonica to form an eerie mix of DANIEL JOHNSTON, VAN DYKE PARKS, and MARC OLSEN.

CD Reviews

A great record
T. Insco | 08/06/2004
(5 out of 5 stars)

"I have to admit, as soon as I heard this album for the first time, I was hooked. I listened to it nearly non-stop for days straight. Then I tried to listen to a new cd put out by a more established group, and I still went back to the old canes. To me this is the best cd put out this year. INCREDIBLE!!!!"
One of the most underrated albums of the year
Matthew Tomich | Basel, Switzerland | 04/01/2005
(5 out of 5 stars)

"More energy than folk, too diverse and bare to be rock. It's the best of both worlds and it may be the best record you didn't hear in 2004."
Stunning
J. Wood | Chicago | 06/05/2005
(5 out of 5 stars)

"This is a truly stunning album seeing as Chris Crisci is the mastermind behind the staggering genius work of art that this is. Definitely a foot-tapping, sing-along type of album and there are no down-sides to this album, never any pits nor boring segments during any moments of this album. While I am still a bigger fan of appleseed cast, Chris Crisci's other band, this may be due to the fact that appleseed cast has more of a repertoire to show for while this is the Old Cane's one and only album. My favorite on this would have to be The Song Was Right."
