"For Old 97s purists this single and the album Fight Songs from which it came is a betrayal. Get over it. Nineteen is a pure piece of candy coated pop perfection that could have been written ten years ago when Rhett and Murray had a pop trio by the name of the sleepy heroes. The Villian is an interesting tune that is rumored to be the favorite of one Frank Black late of the Pixies. This single is a great introduction to the new Old 97's . If you like what you hear be prepared for a musical adventure when you go back further in the catalog. If you are looking for hooks that embed themselves permanantly in your mind, and lyrics that challenge, move and entertain, then this is the band for you. This single is just a taste, a dip into the shallow end... take the plunge into the (very) deep end and buy everything this band has ever recorded. In the words of one reviewer "buy these records, these guys deserve your money""
