CD ReviewsOHM GURU IS BEYOND DESCRIPTION... Darrell L. Lee | Jackson, MS | 03/08/2003 (5 out of 5 stars) "I heard this group/duo on a compilation CD and immediately loved the song--the song was SLIDE by the way on the CAFE ROMA compilation. One day while browsing through a local record store, I ran across Ohm Guru's CD ECHO. With nothing to go on about the group/duo other than the song on CAFE ROMA, I bought it. And let me tell you that ECHO is true chill out, jazz, dub, soul, funk, dance and pop all in one CD and it all works...SLIDE is my fave and the opening song DOLPHINS is equally infectuous and down-right pretty--I Love Me some KING OF CLUE (killer violin solo--something you rarely hear in down-tempo music/nice haunting keyboard melody throughout the song as well...I guartee you'll be whistling it all day--you do know how to whistle, don't you?)...I play ECHO every morning on my way to work, and even at work (Yup, You guessed it, I'm even playing it at the writing of this review...) Co-workers who wander into my office are always asking me "Who is that you're listening to?" "Why, It's Ohm Guru." "Ohm who?" I love the smooth and creamy vocals on ECHO. No screaming...no ad libbing to fade...no out-singing the music...the vocals blend nicely with the super-cool grooves on this CD and they make you feel all warm and gooey on the inside, Plus the lyrics are somewhat positive and empowering(again SLIDE makes you realize that there is hope, and that there is someone there who can help get you through it.)...Check out PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE (Classic) SILENT MOVIE (Dreamy), SLIDE (OF COURSE)and HEART AND SOUL (To all the broken hearted lovers out there)...All are stand out cuts and worthy of becoming singles...song 13 kind of loses you and breaks up the down tempo/chill out affect/effect (which one is it?) of this CD, but it still had it's place on the CD, I guess...better at the end of ECHO than in the middle of it. All in all, ECHO is an essential CD in ones collection who is tired of all the copy cats out there and require something more with substance and pinnache. GO out and get it, order it, burn it, download it or how ever you get your CD's--Just get it!!"
