CD ReviewsAnd What A Magic Trick! Andre' S Grindle | Bangor,ME. | 07/15/2003 (5 out of 5 stars) "Is it because this soundtrack came so later in the day that it is so ignored?I don't know but I found it used, baught it and I'm zoned.I love the Ohio Players in general but this has to be there most daring and experimental album to date. The tital cut is colossal funk while "Fight Me,Chase Me" has a very daring fusion/JB's feel to it.The brief electronica of "The Controllers Mind" and the shifting "Magic Trick" are two more highlites while the drawn out "Good Luck Charm" is it's most popular number. The record is filled out with some great funk-e.i. GET IT BACK IN PRINT!!!" Garbage Marcus Chapman | Chicago, IL United States | 04/19/2004 (1 out of 5 stars) "I am a major Ohio Players fan, but there's no way this album deserves 5 stars. It is certainly not funky and "Good Luck Charm" is the only song worth listening to. However, the movie "Mr.Mean" is worth getting, if you can find it. The group appears in the movie performing the title track in a club. Satch actually has a little dialog with Fred Williamson. If you aren't familiar with the Players' catalog, these are the cds to get: Pain, Pleasure, Ecstasy, Skin Tight, Fire, and Honey...with Honey being the best. Contradiction has about 3, maybe 4 good songs, with "My Life" being the only one not available on a compilation. "Orgasm-Best of the Westbound Years" and "Funk on Fire" will take care of any other songs you may want from the group. Funk on!"
