"Previn hits a homerun in this, the most perfect of all Nutcracker recordings. If you like your fast music furious and your soft music gentle then this is the recording of the Nutcracker for you. The sound is crystal clear, particularly the underated and oft overlooked snowflake watlz. In this piece, and other divertissements, Previn illuminates the often ignored musical color and flavorful spicing that make Tchaikovsky the ballet composer supreme. The Nutcracker suffers too much from drab and listless recordings that seem to drain the music and the listener of all life. Previn, on the other hand, redeems this timeless Christmas music so that it perfect anytime of the year."
